Five German Climbers Killed in Italian Alps Avalanche

Five German mountain climbers, including a 17-year-old girl and her father, have been killed by an avalanche in the Italian Alps.

Rescuers reported that the accident occurred on Saturday (November 1st) around 4:00 PM local time while the group was climbing Cima Barpiana mountain in the Ortler Alps region. A team of three climbers was completely buried under the snow and died instantly.

Separately, the father and daughter, who were part of another group, were swept away by the force of the avalanche. Two climbers from a third group survived and alerted the emergency services, initiating the rescue operation.

The bodies of the first three victims were recovered before Saturday evening (November 1st) local time. The bodies of the father and daughter were recovered on Sunday morning (November 2nd).
